Whats Happening: Barbados Fashion Week

25th November, 2013
Sea Reinas Swimsuit Line Barbados

Melanie and I decided to try something a little different and attend the Caribbean night of the Barbados Fashion Week. We were interested to see especially the very talented Barbadian designers, Isabelle Baulu of Sea Reinas and Kesia Estwick of Kiss. Their collections were very different (to say the least) but equally exploding with character and personality.

Sea Reinas Barbados

The event commenced with Isabelle Baulu's Sea Reinas swimsuit line - Fun, flirty and feminine. The Resort 2014 collection or rather "Wanderlust" - reflects the excitement of travel. Wanderlust can be described as a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world.  According to Isabelle, "The Collection navigates from tropical spaces to europhile cities, translating flora, fauna, landscapes and architecture into clean lines, croquet details and vibrant prints". All in all were taken away with the exotic nature of this collection, just what Isabelle's plan was.

Kiss the girl

"Kiss" by Kesia Estwick was abounding with attitude and 'bad girl' flavour; quite a contrast to Sea Reinas. The collection was very much classic street wear and had an "in your face" feel with hints of sarcasm and aspersion. According to Kesia Estwick; Kiss is "100% Bajan, 110% dope" and we would have to agree.

We would love to hear what you think.
