Cooking Bajan Style: Cutters

10th September, 2012
Cutters Barbados

It is strange that we have not yet mentioned this local fare here on the blog, as it is not only an integral part of Bajan culture but also one of the easiest and most delicious meals to have in Barbados. So what are we talking about? None only than famous 'cutters'. If you don't already know, a cutter is basically a sandwich, however, as opposed to using traditional sliced bread, Barbadians use fresh salt breads (which are similar to bread rolls). Usually a meal that is eaten 'on the go' some popular cutters include fish cutters, cheese cutter, egg cutters, ham cutters, pork cutters (of course bajan pepper sauce being added to all). Some local hot spots such as Cuz are famous for their cutters but you can go ahead and make your own as well!  There are no rules for making cutters and you can put just about anything in a salt bread for your very own personalized one! Have you ever tried a cutter? If so, which is your favorite?
