Barefoot on the Beach: Batts Rock Barbados

17th December, 2012
Batts Rock Beach Barbados

As soon as you reach the West coast, one of the first beaches you land upon is Batts Rock Beach. This beach is a mere 10 minutes away from Barbados' capital, Bridgetown; allowing it to be easily accessible from both the South coast and the West coast. This beach has a relatively large stretch of sand which is perfect for picnics and racquet ball. On an evening you will see some of the locals come down to the beach for their evening "sea bath." The sea at Batts Rock is usually very calm and is lovely for swimming and snorkeling as there is a nearby reef. It is also good for Stand Up Paddle boarding with its beautiful crystal clear and peaceful waters. However, if the North/North-West Swell, Batts Rock becomes a popular surf break with smooth lefts and short fun rights.  If you have ever been to Batts Rock you would have seen a wooded area behind the beach where you can easily spot one of Barbados' very popular and unique green monkeys! Batts Rock is not only a gorgeous beach in the day but it offers a spectacular view of corals, oranges, magentas and blues as the sun sets on an evening.

Battsrock Barbados

Sometimes Batts Rock seems like a forgotten beach but as you arrive you are instantly reminded of its immense beauty!

Please note, Batts Rock can get rather lonely so as with anywhere you go, be cautious and try and enjoy its beauty with another person.
